The Department of Basic Science was established in the year 1997. The Department of Basic Science consists of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The department has highly qualified staff members and well equipped and spacious laboratories. Department teaches Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics to all engineering branch students. Department of Basic Science is striving to impart qualitative understanding skill about the fundamentals of science to students which would help them to identify and understand engineering problems and solve it.

Teachers are involved in teaching as well as research and have published high quality research papers in SCI/SCOPUS journals/ conferences. Department has 3 recognized ‘RESEARCH CENTERS’ by VTU and functioning successfully. Around 10 PhD degrees were completed in our Department under VTU. At present, many Research Scholars are pursuing PhD under VTU in our research centre.
