All India Student-YP-WIE Congress held at VVIET - 28th September 2018

Vidya Vikas Institute of Engineering and Technology organised three Days All India Student-Young Professionals-Women in Engineering Congress in collaboration with IEEE student council on 28th September 2018. A wide platform with more than 450 delegates including Professionals, Entrepreneurs and Visionaries across the globe actively participated in the event.

Dr. M. Annadurai Distinguished Scientist from ISRO was invited as Chief Guest who enlightened the minds of the youth in understanding the difference between expectations, assumption, learning with the reality in today’s world, also shared the success story of one Indian created mission (Chandrayana-I) and real challenges faced to carry the instruments to moon.

Hon’ble Justice N Kumar, Guest of Honor , interacted about the Mental Competence for Self and National Development and also shared a view on how Knowledge is power and wealth.

Dr.Ramakrishna Kappagantu , Immediate past Director, IEEE R10, Invited Guest for the day interacted with the IEEEians the Role of IEEE for Professional development.

Dr.Sudeendra Koushik,Chairman, IEEE Bangalore Section, Daniel Lottis, IEEE SIGHT chair and Principal Engineer, Western Digital was invited as Keynote Speaker for the Day 1 Event.

Puneet K Mishra General Chair, AISYWC briefed about the overview of the 3 Days All India Student – Young Professional- Women In Engineering Congress event.

Sri. Kaveesh Gowda V, Secretary VVET presided over the event and spoke about advancement in Technology in the Current Industry.

Workshop on "Model for conduction of Women Empowerment Programmes in Educational Organizations" on Monday, 28 Dec 2015 in the Seminar Hall of VVET

At the behest of Justice Mrs. Mudagal.K.S, District Principal Judge and with the support of Justice Sri. Dinesh Hegde, District Civil Judge and Member-Secretary, Legal Services Authority, the Post-Graduate Department of Social Work (MSW), Vidya Vikas First Grade College, Mysuru organized a curtain-raiser Workshop on "Model for conduction of Women Empowerment Programmes in Educational Organizations" on Monday, 28 Dec 2015 in the Seminar Hall of VVET.

Sri.Abhinav Ashok Khare, IPS, District Superintendent of Police, Mysuru, who was the Chief Guest and Sri.Kaveesh Gowda.V, Secretary, Vidya Vikas Educational Trust®, who presided, lit the lamp and inaugurated the Workshop.

Sri. Khare, in his inaugural address, stressed the serious and urgent need for actively working on the issue of equal opportunities and protection of property rights of women and the active role the Colleges need to play in this regard.

Sri.Kaveesh Gowda, in his Presidential remarks, conveyed that Vidya Vikas Educational Trust® is determined for promoting Women`s Global development and mentioned that there shall be more representation of women in Sports and Sports Trainers/Physical Educators in their Institutions.

Representatives of "SAADHANA", the Women`s Counseling Centre in the Office of the District Superintendent of Police, Mysuru, Organization for the Development of People (ODP) and Mysuru District Parents` Association for the Empowerment of Differently Abled Persons participated in the Workshop and enlightened the gathering about various kinds of problems and discrimination being faced by women and various steps being taken by the Government and several Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) to protect and safe guard the interest of aggrieved women.

The Officers, Principals, HODs, Faculties and students of various Institutions of VVET in large number also participated in the Workshop and actively interacted with the Chief Guest.


Students of civil engineering of VVIET, Mysuru participated in NIRMAAN 2015, an International annual student symposium

The 5th and 7th semester students from Department of civil engineering of Vidya Vikas Institute of Engineering & Technology, Mysuru participated in NIRMAAN 2015, an International annual student symposium conducted by Department of civil engineering, BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore on 17th and 18th of October, 2015. The technical fest had a total of 10 events and more than 25 colleges took part amounting to 370 students including Sri Lankan students of Peradeniya University.

The students of Vidya Vikas Institute of Engineering & Technology , took part in almost all the events that were organized and gave a gripping competition to some of the prominent teams namely, RVCE, Bengaluru, NITK Suratkal, NIT Calicut, MSRIT, Bengaluru, JNNCE Shimoga, BVB Hubli, Sir MVIT, SJBIT, Bengaluru, Sahyadri College Mangaluru, Jain university, Bengaluru and Gogte ,Belagavi. Ms. GowriPriya S and Ms. Sowmya K B of 7th semester, Civil Engineering department won laurels by bagging first place in Geotechnical challenge and Civil Quiz. Ms. Gowri Priya S also won the second place in Technical talk – debate challenge. The team emerged as overall champions jointly with RVCE, Bengaluru.

One day StateLevel Workshop on ‘Innovation Management and IPR: Significance for academia’,
on the 29th of September 2015

The M.Com Department of Vidya Vikas First Grade College, Bannur Road organized a one day State Level Workshop on ‘Innovation Management and IPR: Significance for academia’, on the 29th of September 2015 in association with Visveswaraya Trade Promotion Centre (VTPC), Department of Industries and Commerce , Government of Karnataka and Karnataka State Council for Science & Technology (KSCST), Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. The guests for the workshop included Smt Prabhavathi Rao, Program Coordinator WTO & IPR Relay Cell, VTPC, Mr. Pradeep, coordinator KSCST. Mr. Umesh Krishna Shenoy was the Guest of Honour.

Smt. Prabhavathi Rao, highlighted the objectives of VTPC in motivating entrepreneurship programmes . Mr Pradeep highlighted the need to protect innovation and innovative ideas. He emphasized the importance of Geographical Indications where out of the 32 GI’s, 30 GI’s were from Mysuru. The Guest of Honour, in his address on ‘Global Economic Scenario: Challenges for Indian Economy’, presented a graphical representation of the price volatility and currency devaluations’ and appreciation . He focused on the present land reforms, GST and labour reforms and the benefits from the 3D’s namely Demographic dividend, Democracy and Demand. He highlighted the need and importance of Innovation and Research and Development, for sustenance.

The first resource person for the morning session, Dr.Bheemesh address on ‘Flavour of Innovation Management and overview of IPR Spectrum’. His presentation included interesting activity through video clippings on Mr Mahadeshwaran and Jugaard – the Indian way of innovation. He explained the concept of Creation, Exploitation and Protection, through IP and IPR, through patent, design patent, trade secret, copyright works, related rights and geographical indication. The resource person for the afternoon session , Dr.Farah Deeba, focused her lecture on copyrights applicable for academia. Her lecture focused on plagiarism and ethical issues in research. She explained the procedures for registration of copyrights. She focused on the legal aspect affecting copyright infringement and the ethical aspect with regard to plagiarism. She also demonstrated the use of citiation , keywords and bibliography. Around 176 students and faculty members benefitted from the workshop .Dr.Vasanthi Reena Williams, HOD of M.Com Department, welcomed and introduced the guests. Prof Basheer Ahmed, Principal of the College, proposed the vote of thanks. Hon. Secretary of Vidya Vikas Educational Trust, Mr. Kaveesh Gowda, Academic Director, Prof.M. Balchandra Gowda, Dean, Dr. Mohan Monteiro, Heads of various institutions under the VVET banner, HOD’s of various departments were present.

With the academic year 2014-15 coming to a close, the Vidya Vikas Institutions has placed on campus more than 200 students through campus recruitment, in diverse sectors like IT, Manufacturing, Automobile engineering, Construction, Design, Quality, Robotics, Electrical and Telecommunication. The other industries that have seen a boom this year have been Banking, Trade, and Retail and Hospitality industries.

The trend from the industry has been in looking for interdisciplinary attributes in students, thereby offering students across disciplines an opportunity to explore their skills and talent outside their core sectors. The Banking and retail sectors have seen a considerable improvement in their hiring numbers with opportunities spanning across disciplines.

Students from Vidya Vikas Institutions today serve with distinction in senior Engineering and business positions across the world and actively contribute to the Alumni activities.

Vidya Vikas Institute of Engineering and Technology, (department of civil) Mysore, organized a one day Faculty Development Program - “MTech (CADS) 2014- Scheme” on October 31st 2014 sponsored by Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum.

The program was declared open at 10.30 am by Principal
Dr. M Ravishankar.

About 30 Faculty members and resource persons from MCE, Hassan, UBDT College of Engineering, Davangere, Sahyadri Engineering College, Mangalore, Srividya Engineering College, Tumkur, SJBIT, Bengaluru and host institute offering MTech (CADS) participated in the FDP.

Dr. M.N. Shesha Prakash, Head of Civil Engineering briefed the delegates about the modalities of the faculty development program and hoped that it would create a common platform for all the faculty members handling M.Tech (CADS), affiliated to VTU, irrespective of the institution offering the PG Course. Further he said that it would evolve sharing of materials, teaching methodologies, creating a question bank and evolution and enlisting of lab experiments.

Dr. Ananthan H enumerated the changes in the new syllabus – for M.Tech CADS-2014. He explained tSSShe reasons for the changes in subjects- Addition and deletion and sought opinion of the faculty handling the classes.

Post lunch session was about panel discussion on the different subjects of the 1st semester and the discussion on setting of possible number of questions from each of the module in the ensuing examination and valuation process to be adopted as per the new scheme.

About 30 Faculty members and resource persons from MCE, Hassan, UBDT College of Engineering, Davangere, Sahyadri Engineering College, Mangalore, Srividya Engineering College, Tumkur, SJBIT, Bengaluru and host institute offering MTech (CADS) participated in the FDP.

The conveners were Mr Jayanth Kashyap, Mr Arun Kumar and Mrs Shambhavi K V and was co-ordinated by all the faculties of civil engineering department. The program was successful in creating the awareness in common teaching methodologies, sharing of resources etc..


"REFRESHER COURSE IN EXPERIMENTAL PHYSICS' at VVIET, Mysore from 11th to 26th November 2014".

Indian Academy of Sciences, Bengaluru, Allahabad and New Delhi is sponsoring a major event titled 'REFRESHER COURSE IN EXPERIMENTAL PHYSICS' at Vidya Vikas Institute of Engineering and Technology, Mysore from 11th to 26th , November 2014. The course aims to familiarize teachers with a set of new experiments developed as a low cost kit by Indian Academy of Science and also comprising lectures, discussions and laboratory sessions which helps the enrolled participants hone their skills in Experimental Physics. The course is being Chiefly directed by Prof. R Srinivasan, Indian Academy of Science and Co-ordianted by Prof. Ningappa, HoD of Physics, Vidya Vikas Institute of Engineering and Technology, Mysore.

Prof. K S Rangappa, Hon. Vice Chancellor, University of Mysore will inaugurate the Refresher Course on 11th November 2014 at 9.30 AM.

Sri. Vasu, Hon'ble MLA, Chamaraja Constituency, Karnataka State and Chairman, VVET, Mysore will preside over the function.

Aakar-2014 A National Level Technical Students Fest in Civil Engineering

Department of civil Engineering, Vidya Vikas Institute of Engineering and technology is proud to announce that students of fifth semester Gowri Priya .S and Deepak. B.M won Four Prizes in Aakar-2014, a National Level Technical Students Fest in Civil Engineering conducted during 19th and 20th September, 2014 at Department of Civil Engineering, National Institute of Engineering, Mysore, in which 30 colleges across the state participated. The students of VVIET emerged as runners up in overall championship. Ms. Gowri Priya. S won first place in technical paper presentation on the topic Tunneling procedure in DMRC and second prize in impromptu talk on Ground Improvement Techniques. Mr. Deepak. B.M won first prize in impromptu talk on Contribution of IRC to Indian road development and second prize in the technical debate contest.

Stealers Dance 2014

"Namaste India" a State level Competition conducted by EduKinet Microsoft
The 7th Semester students of Electrical & Eectronics Engineering, Vidya Vikas Institute Of Engineering & Technology, Mysore along with two students of MIT Mysore developed a software " Namaste India" and won the First Prize in State level Competition conducted by EduKinet Microsoft under the banner 'YAPPON' recently at MIT, Mysore. About 740 students participated in the 2 days competition.

Press Note on RESONANCE 2014 – Annual Technical Fest​

Vidya Vikas Institute of Engineering & Technology, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering conducted the Annual fest Resonance-14 on 04th & 05th September,2014, which included various Technical events such as Quiz, Puzzle Scratching, Circuit Scanning, Engineer to Entrepreneur in Day 1 and Hands on autonomous Robot Building Workshop for High School and Diploma Students in Day 2 . The Chief Guests of the function was Dr. Vinaya K C Manchaiah, Senior Lecturer in Audiology, Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, UK. During his inaugural address he presented wide range of opportunities in the field of Electronics and current scenarios in the area of Audiology. Mr. Vajendra Desai, Senior Joint General Manager, L&T Infotech Services, Mysore enlightened the budding Engineers about the importance of innovation in various fields of Engineering. Day 2 was an Hands on workshop on Robot Building around 50 participants from Diploma and P re-University had actively participated.

Dr. B. Chandrashekar, Principal, VVIET, welcomed the gathering. Dr. Bindu A. Thomas, Professor and Head, Department of Electronics and Communication, highlighted such events are conducted to encourage team spirit and innovative thought processing among the students. The event was presided by Sri V. Kaveesh Gowda, Hon. Secretary, Vidya Vikas Educational Trust (VVET), Mysore. Mr. Vinay, Secretary of Department Student Association provided an overview of various activities conducted under Resonance, Dr. Krishna Atre, Director Academics, VVIET, HoD's ,faculty members and students were present on the occasion.

Faculty Development Program on “SHOCK WAVES & MATERIAL SCIENCE”

Vidya Vikas Institute of Engineering and Technology, Mysore with a purpose to highlight the applications of Shockwaves and Material Science, had organized one Faculty Development Program on “SHOCK WAVES & MATERIAL SCIENCE” on the 23rd of August 2014.

Prof. KPJ Reddy, Professor, Department of Aerospace Engineering, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru and Prof. R S Somashekar, Chairman, DoS in Physics, University of Mysore were the Resource persons.

Prof. Reddy is the founder President of Society for Shock Wave Research, India and also the President of International Shock Wave Institute, at Nagoya, Japan. One of his recent inventions is named after him as Reddy Tube. Prof. K.P.J Reddy has enlightened the importance and the application of short waves in his talk with the title “Exciting world of shock waves” in the closed auditorium. More than 70 delegates from various engineering colleges like VVIET, VVCE, NIEIT, GSSSIETW, MIT, ATME, Mysore, EIT, Ummatur, GEC, Hassan, AIT, Chikmagalore, RNSIT, Bengaluru, RLJIT, Doddaballapur etc., were participated and were inspired with the words of Prof K.P.J Reddy, a renowned scientist and the professor.

Prof. R Somashekar, Professor and Chairman, Department of Studies in Physics, University of Mysore, Manasagangothri, Mysore delivered a talk on 'MATERIAL SCIENCE'. He showed demonstration on change in properties of material with temperature. His talk also inspired the participants.

Dr. C. Ningappa, Professor and HoD of Physics and Convener welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guests.

Vidya Vikas Engineering Students awarded funding by Young Engineers’ Humanitarian Challenge
Vidya Vikas Students of the Department of Electronics and Communication have been awarded with funding for their innovative project titled Advanced Crash Detection System for Automobiles by the All IEEE-R10 Young Engineers’ Humanitarian Challenge (AiyeHum-2014) which is a project-contest to encourage young scientists and engineers to solve real-world challenges applying science and technology. The contest aims at orienting young minds towards identifying community problems and developing technology solutions to address them, focusing on actual implementation reaching the beneficiaries. There was tough competition for projects submitted from Asia and Pacific countries like Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Vietnam, Singapore, Pakistan, Srilanka. Management congratulated both students and mentors for their achievement.

Vidya Vikas FGC Student to Study in USA
Mohammed Ashraf, final year BCom student at Vidya Vikas First Grade College, has been selected to study at the Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, Wisconsin, USA, through the Community College Initiative (CCI) programme. CCI is a United States Department of State programme an academic program at U.S. community colleges intended to build technical skills, enhance leadership capabilities, and strengthen English language proficiency. The program also provides opportunities for professional internships, service learning, and community engagement activities. Participants spend one academic year in the United States and may earn certificates in their fields of study. After completing the program, participants are expected to return home with new skills and expertise to help them contribute to the economic growth and development of their country. The Make A Difference (MAD) non-governmental organization has facilitated in the selection of 22 students from across the nation. Md Ashraf will be leaving on August 3 for a year to study at Fox Valley. He will be rejoining final year BCom rich with indispensible international experience that will make him a better student and professional. Md Ashraf is a resident of the Apna Ghar-Muslim boys orphanage in Shivarathreeshwar Nagar, Bannimantap, Mysore. Vidya Vikas Educational Trust Chairman Hon Shri Vasu (MLA), and Hon Secretary Mr. V. Kaveesh Gowda and the Principal of FGC Dr. A. M. Dhananjaya, faculty, staff and students wish him Bon Voyage and the very best in his studies in the USA.
